Founded in 2014, shaped by Queenstown
When we opened Happiora in 2014, we wanted a hotel that felt like a private lodge and looked like the landscape around it. Schist stone from the region, native rimu timber and wool from South Island farms became the material language of the building.
Since then, 12 years of guests have passed through our doors — skiers in winter, wine travellers in autumn, couples and families in the height of summer. Each season adds another layer to the story.
Casino-inspired, never online
The lounge was born from a love of atmosphere. Brass, velvet, low light and the gentle clink of chips create a sense of occasion. But this is a hotel amenity, not a gambling business.
No money changes hands at the tables. There are no online games, no apps, no remote play. Every evening is hosted in person, for the guests staying under our roof.
